Welcome to PJ-Baileys’ Handcrafted
           Goat Milk Soaps!

Our goat milk soap making adventure was born in an effort to produce a natural skin care product for our growing family.  We sure are enjoying the results and we think you will too!!

Our soaps are handcrafted in small batches in our kitchen using the age-old Cold Process method just like my great grandmother made it!  It’s cured for 5-6 weeks.  The act of soap making is the mixing of oils and fats with lye (sodium hydroxide) creating a chemical reaction called saponifacation that produces soap and glycerin.  Glycerin in the soap is very good for your skin and helps retain skin’s moisture.  Commercially produced soaps can be very drying because the glycerin is stripped out and sold to other companies.  Handcrafted soap retains that glycerin and other moisturizing oils and leaves your skin feeling soft and less dry.

The oils we use in our main recipe include lard, coconut oil and safflower oil.  They are all natural with no preservatives.  Our lard comes from our local butcher shop.  It does not contain the preservative BHT that you find in lard from the supermarket.  Lard is moisturizing and conditions really well.  For those interested in all plant oil based soap, we do offer that.  The liquid in our soap is raw goat milk from our own herd of Alpine dairy goats.  Goat milk has a PH similar to human skin.  It is very nourishing and rich in vitamins, minerals, and protein.  Our herd’s milk runs high in fat and protein naturally!  It is a gift of their genetic makeup and it makes our goat milk soaps EVEN more luxurious!  You can see the evidence by checking out their DHI milk records on our website.  Each bar of soap contains at least an ounce of goat milk.

You will find our handcrafted goat milk soaps have a wonderful lather and a silky moisturizing feel!  What you will NOT find in our soaps are preservatives, detergents or coloring.  We want our soaps as all natural as possible, so unless we’ve added a man made skin safe fragrance oil for scenting- all natural is what you get!  We do not color our soaps so therefore they will range in natural shades of light tan to a dark brown, especially the coffee soap and bars scented with a fragrance oil containing vanilla.
Our bars weigh approximately 3.5 to 4 ounces.  Due to being a handcrafted product the bars can vary slightly in weight and shape.

PJ-Baileys’ Goat Milk soaps are handcrafted and hand cut in our kitchen, cured for 5-6 weeks and hand wrapped.  This gives them a distinction all their own!!  Our soap making is a family affair and everyone is included.
I make the soap and my husband is head soap cutter.  Our children are allowed to pick out scents they like, help put the soap on the racks to cure and wrap.  There is nothing more gratifying than the whole family working together!

In order to extend the life of your handcrafted PJ-Baileys’ Goat Milk Soap we encourage you to keep it dry when not in use.  Allow it to dry on a rack or a soap dish that drains.  We hope you enjoy your soap!!
